The Malaysian coconut industry has gone through numerous economic challenges in the past. However, recently this industry has shown greatest potential to be further developed and strengthened to fulfill the rapidly expanding demands from the consumers particularly from downstream coconut-based industries.
Efforts to revive and empowering the coconut industry in our country will keep on moving forward with the strategy to increase production and productivity through various technologists including breeding, agronomy, pest and disease management, coconut mechanisation, development of various food and non food products from coconut byproduct as value added, with supporting data of economy and marketing.
This strategy will lead to increase income and supply as well as improving the skills and ability of the coconut growers. The main target is to ensure the industry capable to fulfill the needs of the local market and bringing high impact to the country’s trade and eventually to ensure national food security. #NCC2018 #betterMARDI #ourfoodourfuture #coconutIndustry
