MYSaveFood Forum, value food no waste was held on the 24th May 2016 at Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral. The Forum which was officiated by YB Tuan Nogeh Gumbek, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry aims at raising awareness on the importance of reducing food loss and waste and to secure pledges and commitments from the stakeholders (government sector, private sector & NGOs) to join MYSaveFood Network.
Prominent speakers and panelists attended the forum including Dr. Rosa Rolle; Senior Enterprise Development Officer, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Dr. Ainu Husna MS Suhaimi; Head of MYSaveFood Secretariat, Dato’ Syed Abdul Rahman Syed Abdul Rashid; Chairman, Cameron Highlands Malay Farmers Association, Mr. Mansor Omar;Deputy Director General, Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA), Ms. Agustina Fithri Kasmaruddin; Environmental Control Officer, SWCorp Malaysia, Mr. Husairi Ali; Chief Steward Dorsett Putrajaya, Mr. Benjamin Lephilibert; Managing Director, LightBlue Environmental Consulting Co., Ltd, Ms. Suzanne Mooney; Founder The Lost Food Project, Mr. Sebastien Bouvatier; Agricultural Counselor for ASEAN Countries Embassy of France in Singapore, Dr. Mohd Pauze Bin Mohamad Taha; Deputy CEO (Research) SWCorp Malaysia and Mr. Thayalan A/L Ramadas; Deputy Director of Domestic Compliance Food Safety and Quality Division Ministry of Health. A forum session was held to discuss the way forward.
A total of 100 people attended the forum and at the end of the sessions 30 organizations/individuals have shown keen interests and pledged to be partners of MYSaveFood. The forum also sparked many interest in the media and since then reducing food waste has been a focus in printed, audio and broadcast media.
